Tartine All Day: Modern Recipes for the Home Cook [A Cookbook]

by Elisabeth M. Prueitt

2017

Cousins gave me this cookbook. I’ve had it for awhile and just really started reading the recipes. She uses a lot of different flours that I don’t have in my pantry. Do you? Why would you? Especially with the past two years with Covid and shut downs, supply chain shortage and all that jazz, let alone the prices are over the top!!!

Nevertheless, there are some really great recipes to enjoy. The first thing I want to try is the Cornmeal Ricotta Upside down Cake. I  might substitute cottage cheese for ricotta since I didn’t locate it at my last shopping trip at Safeway damn it. Added we have a TON of oranges that need to be used. The orange tree harvest was grande this year!!! Even mailed some back east. 🙂

Next, I’d like to make the vegetable slaw, then granola. Recently bought Fanny Singer’s granola. It’s very good, but very pricey. It’s a treat.

I wish someone was bringing me Corona Beans sauce with chimichurri and smelts. (I had to look up smelts. A little fish.) I don’t where to get smelts so will be looking for a substitute again. She does suggest that one could use sardines or anchovies or even poached, fries or soft eggs. YUM.
